DIY: Rustic Christmas Box

DIY: Rustic Christmas Box

If you're looking for an inexpensive Christmas decoration piece that you can make yourself, then you should definitely try making this box!

I have several rustic/natural-looking decorations so I wanted something to match!

Here's how to make it!

Materials:

Wooden Box (I chose one with handles)
Mason Jars
Votive Candles
Gel Stain
Old Utility Towel
Pine Twigs
Cranberry Stems
Floral Cutters
Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Directions:

1. Using a worn out towel, apply the gel stain in small portions, rubbing all over the wood to get a consistent stain. The more color you add, the more the box will look painted rather than stained so remember, a little goes a long way!

2. Separate the smaller pieces off of the pine twig so that they are easier to work with. Do the same with the cranberry twigs.

3. Hot glue the bottoms of two mason jars to the bottom of the box. Then place the greenery pieces around the jars. Once you are happy with the way they look, glue the cut pieces to the box (the sides, the bottom, or even the mason jar). Wherever the greenery piece meets with the box or jar, that's where you glue it. Then add the small cranberry twigs. Be sure to shape the twigs and greenery to give it definition.

All done!!! This box even makes a great centerpiece!

Let me know what you think!
