The weather is beautiful outside and I could not be happier that our Fall this year has turned out some gorgeous red and orange trees. The city is already working on lighting the square for Christmas and I will definitely be posting some great photos from the lighting ceremony. If you live near the Fayetteville area and are interested in going to the ceremony, it is November 17th and the parade starts at 6:00 PM. You can find more information at the official website.
For today's tutorial I am sharing a personalized wedding gift that I made for a great friend. You can find all sorts of ways to make this on Pinterest by looking up "State Heart" or you can buy them on Etsy. I painted my version on a canvas, rather than printing it. Here's how I did it!
Canvas (I used 11" x 14")
Printed Outline of the State you want
I printed off an outline of the Arkansas, cut it out and used scotch tape to place the outline. I placed the letters in the open space of the canvas with the date of their wedding. Then I used painters tape to keep a white border around the edges of the canvas.
Painting from the inside of the state outline outward I covered the canvas in a single coat. The grey needed three coats for a full cover.
I removed the stickers and outline. There were some imperfections, as to be expected, because canvases are not a completely flat surface.
I started to touchup the imperfections until they were gone.
I added a heart where the wedding would be taking place.
I bought an 11" x 14" frame from hobby lobby and finished off the canvas.
Here are some great pictures from the wedding!!
It was a blast!!!
Congrats Jenni and Nick!!
Have fun in Playa Del Carmen!
